About Us:

Mule Palms of Mississippi & Hybrid-Palms.com is a palm tree nursery specializing in hybridizing the most cold hardy and robust palms available.

We are located in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on the Gulf Coast, (see the map below). Here tropical weather dominates most of the year however our winter season temperatures often drop to mid-upper teens. Recent winters between 2008 and 2014 we have seen low's of 17 Deg. F sustained for 12 hours which has killed almost all of the Queen Palms - Syagrus romanzoffiana across the Gulf Coast States and into the Orlando Florida area. All but a few of the more cold hardy robust Silver Queen Palms - Syagrus romanzoffiana var. litoralis have survived these extreme cold winters, (See the Queen Palm Information page).

To ensure the most cold hardy and robust Mule Palm for our customers we use several 58 year old mature Pindo Palms - Butia odorata (seed bearer) crossed with our mature robust proven cold hardy Queen Palm - Syagrus romanzoffiana var. litoralis "Silver Queen" (pollen donor) which has survived our cold winters for the past 2 decades.

Our Mule Palms are proven survivors in USDA Hardiness Zones 8a and up (See the USDA Zone Maps information pageexhibiting the tropical coconut palm look without the worry of losing the investment of time and money it takes to create a tropical environment.

We also now offer other exotic cold hardy hybrid palms. See the Palms For Sale pages.
